In recent news, it seems the situation between the United States and Nigeria on the issue of Christians being killed has escalated to another level. The US military has reportedly drawn up contingency plans for potential airstrikes in Nigeria following an order from President Donald Trump directing the Pentagon to “prepare to intervene” to protect Christians from terrorists’ attacks. The question is how would they know where to strike and where not to? And what is the Nigerian government doing about all this?

From my perspective, the situation described raises many questions about how such potential interventions would be planned. It's important to understand that for an airstrike to be effective and precise, military forces need highly detailed information, such as satellite intelligence, real-time surveillance, and specific data on the targets. However, in a country as large and diverse as Nigeria, determining exactly where to act without affecting innocent civilians can be extremely difficult. Furthermore, the country's sovereignty is also a key factor, and any foreign intervention must be very careful not to exacerbate the situation or create more conflict. As for the Nigerian government's response, they generally try to strengthen their own military and security forces, but in reality, the situation of violence and terrorism often overwhelms their capabilities. Foreign intervention can be seen as helpful, but it can also further complicate the political and social landscape.
