According to the report, throughout the war in Ukraine, every weapon sent by the US to Ukrainian troops has had tragic consequences for the Russian army. The generous aid packages of the US are hastening the end of the soldiers in the Russian army. Ukrainian troops often benefit from the assistance of friendly states in their operations. This situation has become an insoluble problem among Russian commanders.
The report said that the Russian army cannot recover even if it uses the most powerful weapons at its disposal. Ukrainian troops dealt another crushing blow to Russian soldiers occupying their territory this morning. It turned out that the Ukrainian Armed Forces used long-range weapons provided by the US to target an area where Russian soldiers were training.
The report also stated that authorities also released a video showing the aftermath of the attack. Drone footage shared on social media shows explosions in a region in the Zaporizhia region of southeastern Ukraine, which is partially occupied by Russia. Before the explosions occur simultaneously, soldiers and military equipment can be seen on the ground, and dust balls rise. This terrific attack was of course carried out with the ATACMS sent by the US. The US-made ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System), manufactured by Lockheed Martin, can be fired from M-142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers and can hit targets up to 180 miles away. This gives Ukrainian forces the ability to attack far behind Russia's front lines.
In addition to the report, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that ATACMS was used on the battlefield against Russia and that the operation was carried out very accurately, but did not provide further details. Drone footage showed dozens of Russian soldiers being targeted with ATACMS in the Luhansk region of Ukraine.
Further, the scope of such attacks is being prevented by the lack of missile supplies from Western countries and the still-in-place ban on strikes deep into Russian territory. Ukraine received a “significant number” of a longer-range variant of the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) as part of a new U.S. military aid package in April 2024. Washington provided Kyiv with a shorter-range ATACMS variant known as the M39 Block I in October 2023. It has a range of 165 kilometers, insufficient to hit targets in occupied Crimea.
It also uses a cluster munition warhead and is therefore unsuitable for use against hardened targets. The transfer of the unspecified longer-range variant represents a shift in U.S. policy. The Biden administration has previously been hesitant to provide Ukraine with longer-range missiles due to the potential for escalation and stockpile concerns. Russia’s use of Hwasong-11A (KN-23) and/or Hwasong-11B (KN-24) SRBMs appears to have influenced Washington’s decision. The U.S. has assessed that Russia launched more than 40 North Korean-made missiles against Ukraine between December 2023 and May 2024.
