According to recent news, the volcano in eastern Indonesia has erupted at least 1,000 times this month. Because of this, thousands of villagers living near Mount Ibu are currently undergoing evacuations. During one of its eruptions on Wednesday, the volcano released a column of smoke that reached an impressive height of 4 kilometers into the sky. The officials in Indonesia have raised the alarm status to its highest level and issued evacuation orders for 3,000 people from nearby villages.
Since January 1st, the volcano has been a persistent source of activity, with a total of 1,079 eruptions recorded. The agency reported that the ash from the latest eruption was gray in color and had moderate to thick intensity, drifting southwestward.
Despite the evacuation order, officials were only able to evacuate 517 individuals on Sunday, as many villagers chose to remain in their homes.
