Three persons have d!ed after a boat carrying 20 farmers capsized in Kubo ward, Shani Local Government area of Borno State.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 25, 2025.

The North East office of the National Emergency Management Agency said that out of the 20 farmers on the boat that capsized, 17 were rescued alive.

The NEMA office, while quoting the Chairman of the local government, Abdu Labaki, said the boat capsized as a result of overloading.

Unfortunately most of the people in the boat don't wear life jackets! How much is life jackets that we can't afford! Sometimes, people take life for granted and when the unexpected happens, they will start to blame devil

It is well, it's possible most of them where not even wearing a life jacket, or the boat was not fit to carry that number of persons.
