THREE to d!e by hangAn Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, on Tuesday sentenced three persons to de.ath by hanging for armed robbery
The condemned inmates, Lasisi Afeez (33), Ilesanmi Seun (32) and Ajewole Peter (53), raigned before Justice Lekan Ogunmoye on a four count bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.
The charge stated that “The offences were contrary to section 314, 312 (2) (b) and 344 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021

Armed robbery is not a heinous crime, but why is it that these three robbers will be charged with death by hanging? That is also unfair.

I was not aware arm robbery could result to death by hanging. Though if this can make some of them stop, it will be a good thing.

Murder, arson, rape, homicide, paricide, kidnap for ransom, corruption are among heinous crimes punishable by death, or a life sentence for countries that doesn't implement a death penalty. Those robbers in the report could be sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Those arm robbers were probably unlucky, in other cases, others are sentence to 12yrs, 8yrs not by hanging.
