Trump Orders U.S. Withdrawal From 66 International Organisations, Including 31 UN Bodies

The United States President Donald J. Trump has signed a Presidential Memorandum directing the U.S. to withdraw from 66 international organizations, including 35 non–United Nations bodies and 31 United Nations entities.

Titled: "Memorandum For The Heads Of Executive Departments And Agencies," published on The White House website, President Trump declared that continued participation in those groups no longer serves American interests.

Trump's order to withdraw the United States from 66 international organizations, including 31 affiliated with the UN, is undoubtedly a move that sparks debate. Personally, I believe that these kinds of decisions reflect a very pragmatic view of national interests, but they also pose significant risks. On the one hand, the aim is to reduce commitments deemed unhelpful or costly for the country. However, on the other hand, the withdrawal could weaken US influence in forums where global issues such as health, the environment, and security are discussed. For me, the most worrying aspect is that this isolation could open the door for other powers to fill the void and gain prominence. Ultimately, the measure can be seen as a reaffirmation of sovereignty, but also as a step that limits the capacity for international cooperation in an increasingly interconnected world.
