According to Thai authorities, at least 12 people have been killed in clashes between Thai and Cambodian troops along their disputed border. The conflict between the two neighbors of South East Asia, which has existed for more than a century, has escalated with the fighting. The Thai army said that several persons were injured and that the majority of the casualties were civilians from three Thai provinces. Cambodia has not yet confirmed whether any people were killed. Early Thursday witnessed gunfire between the two rivals, both of which claimed responsibility for starting the violence. Rapid escalation took place, with Bangkok conducting airstrikes on Cambodian military targets and Thailand accused Cambodia of firing rockets.
