According to the report, a woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for her role in a deadly crash involving an Amish buggy and for attempting to deceive authorities by having her twin sister take the blame. The incident occurred on Sept. 25, 2023, near Spring Valley, when Samantha Peterson, 37, drove under the influence of methamphetamine and crashed into a buggy carrying four people.
The report also stated that the crash resulted in the deaths of two children, a 7-year-old and a 11-year-old. Following the crash, Samantha called her twin sister, Sarah Peterson, to the scene and convinced her to claim responsibility for the accident. However, police quickly identified inconsistencies in their story and determined that Samantha was the driver.
During her sentencing on October 1, 2025 Samantha expressed remorse. She blamed it to her addiction.
