Two-storey building under construction has collapsed in Rivers State killing one person

Reports has it that two-storey building under construction has collapsed in the Egbelu Mgbaraja area of Ogbogoro Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria killing a young man Udeme from Akwa Ibom.


The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024, barely a week after another building collapsed in the state. The building gave way while construction workers were on the second floor. another worker narrowly escaped death but sustained serious injuries.

The incident was blamed on the use of substandard materials, describing the foundation and supports as inadequate

That's the issue these days, out of greed they tend to use inferior materials. Imagine if it has not collapsed now,it might have happened later on.

That's a devastating incident. It's even better that no one loses their life. This has been the issue with buildings. It's a very delicate project to embark on nowadays. The engineers would go for inferior building materials just to make more money from the owners.

That was horrible, hoping that the building was insured so the fatality would be covered by insurance. The building was not monitored by the owner as about to collapse.

It have become a daily occurrence in Nigeria. The reason of all these collapse is due to greed bu all party involved. Either the Engineer will buy low quality materials to do construction work or the government agency responsible for supervision will collect bribe and disappear. The obly and major problem we have in Nigeria is corruption and only corruption.
