The report said that typhoon Kalmaegi, Asia's most powerful tropical storm this year, made landfall in Vietnam with winds of up to 92 mph. Kalmaegi killed at least 114 people and drowned entire towns in the Philippines, where it initially hit. Vietnam, which is already battling record rains and floods, has more than 260,000 of its soldiers on standby for rescue efforts.

This typhoon killed 180 people in the Philippines. Those who live near the river banks and seas must evacuate. Don't wait for the flash flood to attack or sweep you away. It is better to be safe than sorry. It seems typhoons are ramoavibg from country to country.

The force and destruction left in the wake of Typhoon Kalmaegi are truly alarming. It is striking how these natural phenomena seem to be becoming more intense and frequent with climate change, affecting so many countries in the region. The number of lives lost and the devastation in communities demonstrate the vulnerability we face to these catastrophes. What worries me most is the lack of preparedness and the need for authorities to strengthen early warning systems and evacuation protocols. The warning to evacuate near rivers and coastlines must be taken seriously; waiting can be fatal. Solidarity between countries and investment in resilient infrastructure are essential to reducing future damage. Nature is showing us its power, and we must learn to adapt and prepare better because it seems these events will continue to occur and affect more people.

Hoping this typhoon already left Vietnam. It's a devastating storm that killed 188 people in some affected places in the Philippines, and misplaced millions of homes. It's an agonizing impact of the storm Tino, its local name.
