According to the report, Ukraine launched Operation Spiderweb - an unprecedented drone attack on Russia, as part of which it targeted Moscow's bomber fleet - TU-95s and TU-22s. Kyiv used around 117 simple FPV drones aided by a video remote control to attack Russian army bases - Belaya base in Serbia and Olenya base in the Arctic region.
Kyiv claims to have destroyed at least 40 Russian war planes and 34% of Russian bombers. Even Moscow has admitted that some of its fighter planes have been destroyed. Ukraine claims to have inflicted monetary loss of up to 7 billion dollars on Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address that it took him 18 months to plan this attack. Russian President Vladimir Zelensky is likely to retaliate with a brazen escalation. Meanwhile, it has already ramped up its ground offensives. The attack took place a day before US-backed Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Turkey.
