Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, said that Ukraine must assemble more men to resist Russia's offensives. Last month, he urged that Ukraine cut its minimum conscription age to 18 years old to boost its military. After almost four years of war, the Ukrainian army is substantially exhausted. However, Kyiv has not reacted positively to this recommendation. Despite this, Blinken reaffirmed the idea at a press conference in Brussels on Wednesday.
Earlier in the war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had reduced the required conscription age from 27 years old to 25 years old. Blinken continued: "For every person, every soldier that Ukraine mobilizes, we are committed to making sure that they have the training and the equipment they need to effectively defend the country."
