According to the report, Ukraine says it has struck a Russian oil refinery near Moscow in retaliation for a wave of drone attacks on Kyiv and other cities. At least seven people were killed in the Ukrainian capital when Russian drones targeted power and water infrastructure, as well as residential areas.

The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has condemned the attacks as violations of international law. Ukraine says it has struck Russia.

That is always the case, a retaliation to follow after an attack. Russia attacked civilians, killing 7 people..

From my perspective, the situation in Ukraine and Russia clearly reflects how violence and war only generate an endless cycle of retaliation and suffering. It is understandable that Ukraine wants to defend itself and respond to attacks, but it is also important to remember that attacks on civilians and the destruction of infrastructure affect innocent people who simply want to live in peace. The UN Secretary-General's condemnation is justified, as international law prohibits attacks on civilians and civilian property. Violence only fuels more violence and does not provide lasting solutions; it only perpetuates conflict and pain. It is essential to seek diplomatic paths and peaceful solutions, although in the midst of such a complex conflict, this seems very difficult. The priority should be protecting people and preventing further death and destruction, because in the end, we are all victims when war drags on.

The drones that exploded in Russia were a retaliation by Ukraine. These two warring countries keep on attacking, and the victims are the innocent and helpless civilians, especially the children.
