Unbelievable price of ginger in my place at $10 a kilo

I bought ginger the other day and I was so shocked when the seller told me the price of ginger is at $12 a kilo. This price didn't happen in the past years. Last year it was at $ 5 a kilo, It jumped almost triple. I only bought one half a kilo. My sister cooked beef stew. She added few pieces of ginger. We also stocked it for tea with honey.

I don't have any idea if the price of ginger goes down. It might goes up during summer. At home, we plan to buy ginger in bulk, to dry them. We plan to grind the dried ginger so we can save money. Its price may surely soars up in the common in the months.
