According to the report, Lebanon's army chief Joseph Aoun was elected president, ending a two-year power vacuum. He secured 99 votes in the second voting round, signaling a new era for Lebanon.
The report said that Aoun pledged to uphold the constitution, preserve sovereignty, and prioritize the army's role in maintaining peace. He called for dialogue with Syria on sovereignty and borders, and for Lebanon's exclusive right to bear arms, referencing Hezbollah’s arsenal.
The report added that his election marks a shift in Lebanon's regional power dynamics, with revived support from the US and Saudi Arabia. The Biden administration also shifted military aid to Lebanon, strengthening the Lebanese Armed Forces.
At least after two years of having no president in Lebanon , here comes now the new president who like to wipe out the Hezbollah terrorists . These terrorists are lurking around in their country and this worries much the Iran supreme leader Khamenei. It sees there is a bright side now of Lebanon. Kudos Lebanon!!
