According to a recent report, a US-made counter-drone system is attracting significant attention from NATO allies after eliminating more than 1,000 Shahed drones in Ukraine. The report highlights that this weapon is currently being deployed to allied forces to bolster frontline defenses. This system, developed under the US Eagle program, is called Merops and combines a ground control station, a launch platform, and a rapid reconnaissance interceptor drone into a low-cost package. Remarkably, a four-person team—including a commander, a pilot, and two technicians—can learn to operate the entire system in just two weeks. This technology undoubtedly represents a major advancement in air defense and countering unmanned threats in conflict zones. Its rapid training and effectiveness make Merops a very promising system.
