Cruise, 63, accepted an honorary Oscar at the annual Governors Awards in Hollywood alongside singer-philanthropist Dolly Parton, choreographer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas.

“Making films is not what I do, it is who I am,” the four-fold Oscar nominee said on Sunday, accompanying his long-awaited Academy Awards honour with an acceptance speech about his love of cinema.

From my perspective, Tom Cruise receiving an honorary award at the Governors Awards demonstrates the immense respect and recognition he enjoys in the film industry. At 63, Cruise has established himself as one of the most iconic and dedicated actors, and it's no surprise that he's being recognized for his passion and commitment to the art of filmmaking. Personally, I believe his statement that filmmaking "is not just what he does, but who he is" reflects the true essence of an artist who has dedicated his entire life to perfecting his craft and delivering stories that inspire and entertain millions. While some may criticize his style or choices in certain areas, his impact on Hollywood and his influence on generations of filmmakers and actors cannot be denied. This recognition is a testament to his legacy in film history.
