According to the report, Russia has warned that Washington's plan to deploy long-range missiles in Germany from 2026 signals the return of the Cold War.

The report added that during the three-day NATO Summit in Washington, the US announced that it will periodically station missiles in Germany as a deterrent.

Russia has warned
Ignore them; the only way Russia is still considered a top-tier world power are the nuclear weapons they currently possess.
Take those away and as we've seen in Ukraine, they are at-best a strong regional power.

And never trust Russia to actually follow through on anything; the list of agreements they've broken dating back to World War II is a very long list...

Russia will never give up it's a do or die principle and ideology. Only the assassination of Putin can weaken their war rampage.

What Russia (and Putin) wants is to re-establish their old sphere or vassalage over Eastern Europe/Central Asia and haven't particularly liked seeing their former "allies" in Europe turning West to NATO and/or the EU, never mind the fact that, contrary to their opinions, those countries came to the West seeking freedom and protection from Russia.

I wonder what makes Russia powerful, perhaps being a communist county. The income of the Russians part of it in big percentage goes to the government making advantage of it thus gaining resources to invent powerful weapons. Russia cannot bring back the old USSR.

Russia has vast mineral resources, vast fossil energy sources and vast farmlands so in theory they could be a top-tier economic and political powerhouse.

What hurts them is (a) the rampant corruption infecting pretty much every part of Russian society and (b) the overall Russian culture, steeped in centuries of autocracy and authoritarianism.

Corruption is everywhere democratic or communist country the invisible act made visible by the government and despite the strict government of Russia corruption happens.
