US, Russian Defence Chiefs Discuss Ukraine War Over Call

According to the report, US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin held a phone call with his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov, focusing on the Ukraine war. According to the Pentagon, Austin emphasised the importance of maintaining lines of communication amid ongoing escalations in the war.

The report said that Moscow stated that Defence Minister Andrei Belousov pointed to the danger of further escalation due to the ongoing US weapons supply to Ukraine. This marks the first conversation between top defence officials.
