Vice mayor shot in Maguindanao del Sur is recovering

A report from GMA Integrated News says that Maguindanao del Sur's Vice Mayor Datu Omar Samama, of Datu Piang, is recovering in hospital after a shooting incident on Monday. A suspected sniper shot the Vice Mayor during a speech at a Barangay Magaslong program around 10 a.m. on Monday. He's running for reelection in 2025. The incident that happened drew condemnation from George Garcia, chairman of the Commission on Elections. "We are so saddened and we accept this as an open challenge to us and other law enforcement authorities. Violence has no place in a civilized society," Garcia said. The attack on the Vice Mayor was also condemned by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

That was an outrageous assassination attempt on the Vice mayor in Maguindanao. I have not heard the news he he,. I was busy watching Kdrama, lol. I am glad the VM is recovering. I am also hoping that the culprit is already apprehended and jailed.
