I want to start live streaming my studio sessions. And I want to know the tools that I need to get to be able to make live streaming possible? Would I be needing a camera to get quality live streaming or a smartphone can do?

To start streaming, you will need a streaming software like OBS studio, you also need a good camera or a phone with good camera and a strong Internet connection.

You don’t need fancy gear to start. A modern smartphone with a solid front camera works fine, especially if you add an external mic for clearer sound. Lighting also matters, even something simple like a ring light. Software like OBS Studio makes streaming smoother. Begin small, then slowly upgrade as your audience grows.

How do you connect the external microphone to the smartphone. I'd there any special software that is needed for that?

You don’t need special software for most setups. Usually, you just plug the external mic into your phone’s headphone jack or USB-C/lightning port, depending on the mic. Some mics come with adapters if needed. After that, most streaming apps will automatically use the mic as your audio source. Just check in the app settings to make sure it’s selected.
