Nothing in extreme state is good. Extreme self love is selfishness. A mother should sacrifice to that extent so that the child becomes compassionate when he/she grows into an adult.

I agree with you. In every circumstance, we must try to be assertive enough. In Italy, there's a saying that translates as: "Love isn't beautiful if it's not argumentative." At first glance, it may seem wrong, but we must also remember that for every YES we say to someone else, it's equivalent to a NO we say to them.

You're absolutely right. We all know that saying YES is the easiest solution, also because saying NO creates conflict with the other person. But even if that's the case, we still need to be able to deal with that conflict.

You're absolutely right, and I can confirm this by the fact that, unfortunately, years ago, I fell into alcoholism for exactly this reason. I realized that no one could respect me if I didn't even respect myself.
