Content marketing is the activity of creating and sharing or publishing quality and interesting content and can be in the form of videos, articles, podcasts, etc. Content marketing often only tells the story of the brand/product or service being offered. While social media marketing refers to a marketing strategy that utilizes social media platforms/sites. Marketers can also directly interact with customers and will also attract new customers. Social media platforms also allow potential customers to access marketing content by clicking on a link.
 
Content marketing is a generic term used for marketing method where you use different kinds of content to market, where as all marketing activities done on social media is social media marketing.
 
Content marketing focuses on creating and distributing relevant and consistent contents to attract a clearly defined audience while social media marketing promotes a brand, product or service on social media platforms to engage the audience and drive website traffic and sales.
