What are the differences between the roles of branding and marketing departments of a business organisation?

Branding is the foundation, defining who you are as a company and the image you project. It's about creating a long-term emotional connection with customers. Marketing, on the other hand, is all about action.
That emotional connection might look less important than sales in the short term but the it could be the defining factor between impressive or disappointing sales in future.

In Roomi Enterprises I was in sales and marketing department so we were finding out the ways and means of generating sales. While branding department was dealing by brand manager and his duty was to promote a particular brand of different products.
That means the two departments were headed by different people meaning their objectives were distinct. In some companies, they find a way to merge then the two departments to work together.

Basically, branding is the process of building a strong and positive image for consumers through the creation of distinctive values, identities, brands and images. Meanwhile, marketing focuses more on establishing relationships between companies and consumers through their strategies.

I think branding is mostly about creating a separate identity for the business. It helps in separating your business from others, then marketing is mainly about reaching out to your target audience.
