What are the steps to build an independent business?

For most people, their businesses are completely dependent on them. The business can't run of the business owner is nor around. That is inclusive of my own business.

I and I believe other entrepreneurs too would love to build businesses that can stand on their own and be functional, even when the business owners are not around.
