Eating is a necessity and there is nothing that anyone can do to stop spending money on food. However, it should be possible to cut down expenses on food.

What are the ways to cut down expenses on food without it affecting proper nutrition?
 
Switch to low cost alternative. For instance, you can start eating soy beans for protein instead of meat.
I think that is the best approach. On my country, options like pasta are generally less expensive to buy than having to buy rice. Just research and make the switch.
