What causes damage to a flash drive that it can't be read any longer?

There are certain points that a flash drive gets damaged to the point that it can't read when put into a PC. What are the possible causes of such a damage to a flash drive? How can that damage be prevented?
A flash drive can become completely unreadable on a computer for a variety of reasons. One of the main reasons is physical damage such as dropping or bending it while it is plugged in. Also, water or moisture can cause a short circuit inside the device. Removing it without safely ejecting it from the computer can corrupt the file system. To prevent this damage, it is important to always eject the flash drive safely, avoid using it in extreme heat or humidity, and ensure that it is not overused by frequently erasing and writing. Backing up important data is also a good way to protect yourself from data loss.
