Event planning is a very good business that many people are into now. But some events planners have had battles with clients over failure of events. And most of the times, these failures are a result of the unexpected circumstances even when the event planner had done organisation well.

What contingency measures do event in the planners put in place to avoid failure in their service delivery?

It is to have alternative planners or vendors on ground. Don't put all your hope on a person unless you are very sure
It is true that one needs to have alternative vendors especially with the decorators and musicians so that they won't disappoint you.

Having multiple suppliers would be a huge advantage, as relying on a single one might disappoint you on the long run.
Yes it is very very important to have other back up suppliers to avoid disappointment. Some suppliers are not just it

And the same way they supply to you, they also supply to others, so there are times they might have supplied with you need to someone else that came first. Having a backup supplier is best.
