What could be the benefit of keeping old and unused equipment in the business place?

There are some business owners that don't fancy disposing off old equipment. They would keep those equipment even when they have bought new ones that they are currently using.

What is the advantage or benefit a business gains when it still holds on to old and unused business equipment?

The old equipment can be used to get replacement parts in due course for newer equipments that might need them.

If they are kept well not rotten or stained, the time comes that their price appreciate. Once these stuff are displayed again visibly with a new price that fits with the recent pricing, then the business owner profits more.

Majority of the times i do not see any benefits, rather they tend to take too much space and makes the place looks rough. Then again in some cases the old ones can be use for spare parts.

It may be worth to keep the old equipment if there may be some spare parts which are still usable. Otherwise, I do not see the need to keep them.

Some businesses can keep the old equipment and use it to train the staff to have a feel of business equipment before allowing such staff to touch the main business equipment.

I have two old sewing machines that I still keep in my shop even when I have new sewing machines. I keep them because there is a particular attribute that they have that the new ones don't have.
