We cannot do anything if payment is delayed from a site except complaint it with the admin whereas if offline payment is delayed we can ask the owner for the reason.
Asking the customer when the payment will be processed, can help reduce the stress due to delay to some extent. Also stop working for the customer who does not pay and do other work.
In my work, I never experience delayed pay. They are sending the pay in advance. Downside of the advance pay is that it gets consumed earlier as well. So need to do careful budgeting.
I am a freelancer. This happens to me once in a while but not often. I usually would send an email to my client as a reminder that I have not yet received payment from him/her. If there is no response, I will give him/her a call. If I receive no response from him/her, I will go to the Small Claims Tribunal for help.
If the delay is so long, one really has to reach out to the client to ask for payment. I used to do that. Knowing when the client would pay or the situation on ground can calm nerves.
