What do you do with advanced payments?

There are times that customers might pay for goods and services in advance. What do you do with such advanced payments? Do you spend it or just keep it aside in case the customer suddenly demands a refund?

It might happen that the customer has a change of mind from buying the product and wants a refund for the advanced payment.

I am a freelancer offering translation services. I never get advanced payment for my service. I received payment only when I completed the job.
