We have different cultures. The culture of the businesses here the first day of the grand opening might not be the same in your country.

When a business here opens a business first day, there are many customers waiting and while waiting the business owner prepares gigs like instant lottery, taking free give aways that lasts for three days.

The grand winner usually receives a vehicle, a double door refrigerator or a washing machine. The other prizes are grocery products. All selected items are on buy one take one. It's indeed like a feasting day.

What about in your country?

It indeed lures the people. In this way, any will know of a newly opened store. It is not easy to manage a store if capital is insufficient. The business will not become famous or known. It is crucial for the owner so marketing the business is the ultimate strategy to boost sales.

Over here things are rather different. You can only have lots of customers waiting for you during your first day of operation only if you have already made arrangements for a party, and have invited people over.

@Starmix, in my country it is not much different from your country, but opening a business/store like that is only done by middle to upper class businesses that have strong capital. But for middle to lower class businesses/stores or small business people cannot give gifts as promotions. My experience when opening the first store, there were only two visitors who saw the process of arranging goods to be neater.

Correct, doing this are big business corporations like NESCAFE, NESTLE, Proctor and Gamble Company, and more. Whenever there is a new coffee product by NESCAFE, there are promos sales representatives from office to office and others are installed in big stores to give a sample of free coffee.
