We have some people dealing with that kind of business in my village. They are really making a killing as they easily get the material as cheap as ten cents per kilo. That kind of business is really profitable here and its very easy for one to start.
In my community, it is considered a poor man business or a business for dirty and homeless people. But now, it is very lucrative and a lot of people is doing as side hustle. In my house, i use to keep plastic bottles which i use to sell or exchange it for something useful.
We are not keeping any plastic materials. We threw them in the plastic garbage and being picked by the assigned truck twice a week. Perhaps the city government recycles the plastic things.
Plastic is easily recycled, so there are many scrap dealers who are purchasing empty plastic bottles and containers to resell them to the scrap dealers.
