Filthy rich is an informal and often figurative expression used to describe someone extremely wealthy. It carries several connotations. It implies a level of wealth that is far beyond what most people can imagine. It is not just being comfortable or well-off; it is being excessively rich.

The term often suggests that the person flaunts their wealth in an obvious or vulgar way. They might have multiple mansions, expensive cars, and extravagant lifestyles.

Filthy rich often carries negative connotations, implying that the person's wealth was acquired through unethical or questionable means, or that they are greedy and uncaring. The term can highlight the vast disparity between the wealthy and the poor, and it can be used to express resentment or anger towards those who have excessive wealth while others struggle.

Further, filthy rich can imply a moral judgment about the person’s character, suggesting that their wealth has corrupted them or that they are out of touch with the struggles of ordinary people.

Furthermore, filthy rich is a colorful and evocative term that goes beyond simply describing wealth. It implies extreme wealth, often acquired through questionable means, and it carries negative connotations of greed, ostentation, and moral corruption. It is a term that often reflects societal attitudes towards wealth and inequality.

I feel when they say a person is filthy rich, it means the person has more money than they can spend, hence they don't even know what to do with some of the money.

The term can highlight the vast disparity between the wealthy and the poor, and it can be used to express resentment or anger towards those who have excessive wealth while others struggle, but those who are filthy rich also have burned their midnight candles just to reach what they are now.

The term filthy rich paints wealth as something tainted, almost dirty. It’s not about having money but how much and what it represents. People use it when riches seem undeserved or morally questionable. It carries frustration toward inequality and waste. Even if the person worked hard for it, the phrase still hints that wealth on that scale changes people.

How nice if I were born with a silver spoon so I can become filthy rich, lol. It is indeed overwhelming being filthy rich, money is nonstop and they have many resources and branches of their businesses that give them a financial continuity which seems eternal.

Lovely will life being filthy rich, but only a very few are gifted with this. The majority of the people living on the planet are poor, in the middle class, or below the poverty line. What an awful and unfair distribution of classes of wealth.
