What is a pager? And what is it used for?

I recently started hearing about a device called Pagers. I learned about how Israeli infiltrated the pagers and caused it to detonate in their attack on Hezbollah.

What are the pagers used for? How does it work in terms of technology used to operate it?

It’s a communication device. It was available way before phones.

A pager is a small, portable device that was commonly used in the past to receive short messages, often used for communication in situations where a mobile phone was not convenient. It typically works by receiving a signal from a paging network, displaying a message or alert, and sometimes allowing for a callback number.





Pagers were widely used by doctors, emergency responders, and business professionals in the 1980s and 1990s before cell phones became more prevalent and advanced. They could only display simple text or numbers, unlike smartphones today, which provide a wide range of communication options.

It's a wireless device used to send short messages, I think there are some companies or places that still use this.
