I always see businesses that advertise that they deal on "general merchandise". And that gets me confused as to what it is they deal on. What does "general merchandise imply in business"?

For a business that claims to deal on general merchandise, what kind of services can they be contacted for?

General merchandise simply means every other thing related to that business that you might need. There must be a niche first of that business before it advertises general merchandise.
