What is individual stocks? And how can one invest in it?

I have heard the concept of individual stocks. And I want to know what makes it different from stocks as we traditionally know. Are there special ways to invest in individual stocks? Is the market for individual stocks different? How can one invest in it?

Individual stocks is just a unit of shares stocks of a company. I don't know if companies allow one to buy just one unit of share stock though.

I think individual stock refers to a single share of a company that you can buy or sell in a market. That means, unlike mutual funds, you only own a tiny portion of a single company.

As explained by @Springtime. So if you as an investor only have shares in one company, for example you only have Google shares, to buy them of course you have to be registered on the stock exchange and have a customer account balance.
