What is the difference between a payment gateway and a payment processor?

As online workers, we will often hear the terms payment gateway and payment processor. According to Forbes, some of the best payment gateways today are Paypal, Square. Shopify, Helcim, Payline, etc. While examples of payment processors are Paypal, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, Braintree. So in your opinion, what is the difference between a payment gateway and a payment processor?
 
A payment gateway acts as the front-end for online transactions, collecting and encrypting customer payment data. It then transmits this data to a payment processor to authorizes the transaction by communicating with the customer's bank to approves or declines the payment,
