What is the difference between coins and tokens?

It seems like we are using the two terms interchangeably. But I think they are different. Coins should have a separate meaning from tokens relative to the crypto world.

For clarity, what differentiates coins from tokens in the context of crypto?

In the crypto world, coins have their own blockchain, such as BTC, Ether, Sol, etc., while tokens do not have or use other blockchains, such as USDT, Bonk, Ape, etc.

Coins are native assets that stands on their own, token on the other hand are built upon an existing blockchain.
