What is the duration between planning and making purchases?

So before one decides to make purchases for some commodities they shou sit down and plan for that thing and more especially when the products are more expensive. So how long do you take to make the purchases after the planing?

That depends on what I buy. If it is a big-ticket item such as TV or washing machine, I'll take more time to do research on which brand I should buy and do some price comparisons.

For me if it is a big purchase I can give myself 48 hours if I still have the urge I go ahead no pressure
