What is the proper way for a business organization to dispose old paper documents to avoid data leakage?

Companies have old official documents that they might want to dispose of. The caveat is that this old documents may contain sensitive data to the business organization.

How can a business organization dispose such documents and not run the risk of data leakage?

In the school that I work, official documents meant to be disposed are shredded into pieces that are not legible before being disposed.

It is to properly burn them to ashes. I don't think there will be need to even just buried them.just destroy them.for life

I think it better off if you burn them to ashes so nothing would be seen.
Or it can also be sold, or recycle.
