Well, general skills might get you some small jobs, but to make good money, you need advanced skills in in-demand niches. For example a general writer might earn $5 per article but if you build SEO skills, you might earn better as a SEO writer. You might warn average amount as a general writer but as a copywriter you earn better. The same goes with other industries like design, development, marketing, etc.
