Today's post is focused on troubleshooting. Sometimes it happens that we mistakenly fall our mobile devices and smartphones into water or other kinds of liquid and the device is not waterproof.

Is it possible to save such a device? What is the first thing to do to make sure you don't lose such a device?

So the rice thing is actually true. A phone that fell inside water should not be turned on till after 30 hours of the fall. Remove batteries and dry it in the sun.
Immediately retrieve the equipment, switch it off, remove attachments and the battery (if possible), carefully dry excess liquid, use absorbent material such as rice or silica gel, air dry for at least 24-48 hours, and avoid turning it on too fast. If the problem persists, seek expert help or contact the device's manufacturer.

The best thing to do is to loose it if we can and remove the battery so it gets dried and also check the panels if it is wet or not and should be spread too if we found out it is wet.

If this really happen to your Smart phone or mobile so firstly remove the battery or charger and switch it off for at least 1 day and give it time to become properly dry the liquid inside out.

Yes putting it in rice actually works, this is because things like rice or garri normally absolve water. Once you switch it off, it would be best to open it as well, so both the hidden parts can dry off.

It only gets tricky if it is a device with an inbuilt battery. You would have to find a phone engineer to open it for you which might turn out to be too much time wasted. How can one help with an inbuilt battery phone?

Yes that's true. This is one major disadvantage with having an inbuilt battery phone, but these days it's extremely rare to get a good and modern phone that does not use an inbuilt battery.

I had heard of several people who had managed to get the device working again, even though it had fallen into water, but this time ago. Nowadays, unfortunately I believe that it's more difficult to restore a device that has been dropped under water, because modern ones have a built-in battery, so it cannot be removed easily by the user umtil contacts a specialized technician. Furthermore for this reason the phone could even suffer more serious damage!
