According to the report, Monkeypox has put health agencies across the world on heightened alert. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared mpox a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC). This is the second such emergency alert time that the WHO has sounded in two years following its outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and its spread to over a dozen countries in Africa.

The report added that the global health agency has issued a detailed explanation about mpox, how it spreads, who is at greater risk of catching it, how to prevent its spread and what to do when one gets the virus.

First, quick facts about mpox:
Mpox (monkeypox) is a viral illness caused by the monkeypox virus, a species of the genus Orthopoxvirus. Two different clades exist: clade I and clade II
Common symptoms of mpox are a skin rash or mucosal lesions which can last 2–4 weeks accompanied by fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, low energy, and swollen lymph nodes.
Mpox can be transmitted to humans through physical contact with someone infectious, with contaminated materials, or with infected animals

Laboratory confirmation of mpox is done by testing skin lesion material by PCR. Mpox is treated with supportive care. Vaccines and therapeutics developed for smallpox and approved for use in some countries can be used for mpox in some circumstances.

In 2022–2023 a global outbreak of mpox was caused by a strain known as clade IIb.
Mpox can be prevented by avoiding physical contact with someone who has mpox. Vaccination can help prevent infection for people at risk.

Mpox (monkeypox) is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus. It can cause a painful rash, enlarged lymph nodes, and fever. Most people fully recover, but some get very sick

If the virus cannot be treated right away, it may spread. Let us hope and pray that it will not reach to our country already. We already suffered a lot during the surge of the corona virus.

The image of the infected person of the mpox looks so yucky and disgusting. The virus may ruin the human skin. Perhaps there are numerous monkeys in South Africa. The mpox virus originated there.
