When a customer invites you, the business owner to his or her celebration events, what do they really expect?

As a business owner, your regular customer invites you to either his or her wedding or child christening, what are they expecting from the business. Is it the presence of the business or a gift from the business?

May be the customer would like to strengthen the relationship with the business owner. I see no problem doing this.

Expectations are that business should be expanded in a way that it will generate money both however its also used as strengthening partnership

For me l don't see the business being involved in the event there by. That's likely to a friendship outside the business.

I want to believe that the customer would expect a gift and a presence of the business at the events. I always go for such events for my clients.

It mostly depends on the kind of relationship you have with them. For some, they simply invite you cause they are expecting something from you, either material gifts or money related gifts. While there are cases where they invite you simply be because of how close you are to them and they just want you to be there.

I had to send my staff to attend the wedding of one of my customers. She gave the company the invitation card for the wedding. And we had no other option than to attend.
