I think one of the best mission games i have played would be grand theft auto. The missions there are awesome and the fact that it's an open world game makes it a lot more fun.

Clearly this title goes to RGP and JRPG, the Yakuza saga or Like Dragon are incredibly complete when it comes to missions, they are a true marvel and an experience that I recommend to anyone who wants to live an incredible saga with mixtures of film, love, fiction, etc. This saga of games has almost everything, if not everything, it is extremely addictive to play it.
