WHO predicts a 5.2m shortfall of nurses and midwives world wide in 2030

The World Health Organisation has predicted a worldwide shortage of nurses and midwives by the year 2030. This was reveal on Internaional Nurses da. There are currently an estimated 29 million nurses and 2.2 million midwives globally but WHO said there will be a shortfall of 4.8 million nurses and and 0.31 million midwives by 2030.

The UN body said it would be very obvious in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Eastern Mediterranean region, and parts of Latin America.

Same here with Nigerian nurses they are always ready to move for greener pastures so we have shortage of them here already

In Nigeria, midwives and nurses are moving to first tier countries where there is better opportunities than in third world countries. According to one Nigeria newspaper, about 40% of Nigeria nurses leaves the country on annual basis.

This is manly because majority of them tend to travel to other counties for better paying opportunities.
