It's not just estimates, but numerous scientific studies prove that women are more responsive or sensitive to inflation than men, especially when prices of basic necessities in markets and supermarkets rise, from cooking oil and rice to snacks that can drain your wallet.

A study and survey conducted by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) concluded that women have higher expectations than men, even though inflation isn't as bad as they think. In a large PNAS survey of married couples in the United States, wives more often predicted higher price increases than husbands.

Of course, there are many reasons why women are more sensitive to inflation than men. One reason I know is that women are more discerning in assessing prices than men. Can you give me another reason?

Another reason women tend to be more sensitive to inflation is that they are often more directly involved in managing household consumption and budgeting. In many families, women handle day-to-day expenses like groceries, children’s needs, and utilities, so they notice even small price fluctuations faster than men do. This hands-on role naturally heightens their awareness and concern when prices rise. Additionally, research suggests that women generally prioritize financial security and family well-being more strongly, leading them to perceive inflation as a direct threat to stability. There’s also a psychological factor: women often carry a heavier emotional and mental load related to family finances, which makes them more cautious about future economic uncertainty. So, while men might view inflation through a broader economic lens, women tend to experience it on a practical, immediate level—seeing how every price change directly affects the family’s daily life and comfort.

Women are often more affected by inflation because they are the ones directly responsible for purchasing daily household necessities. When they visit markets or retail stores, they notice price changes more quickly than men. This makes them more sensitive to changes in the cost of goods such as cooking oil, rice and snacks. Furthermore, many women earn less than men, which makes them feel the weight of inflation more acutely. This is not just a feeling but a reality confirmed by various studies.

Women have to be the one to do the actual shopping for food and necessities for children. They know when things are really expensive in the market. And it affects what they can buy per time.
It is true that many women are at the forefront of buying the family's needs, especially food and children's items. They are the ones who know how prices change in the market because they experience them firsthand. When they know that something has gone up in price, they decide wisely what to buy and what to wait for.

This puts them in a unique position to understand the economic situation in practice. When women organize themselves well, they can help families live on a small budget without missing out on essential needs. Respect for their efforts every day.

I guess that is because women do more shopping than men in general. They buy groceries, daily necessities. It is easy to notice the price increase.
Alas, you have a very important point. Most women are involved in shopping for everyday items like food and soap. Therefore, they notice price changes much faster than men.

But also, if men get into that routine of buying things, they will only start to notice those changes. The economy affects everyone without choosing. So it is important for us all to know how prices are changing so that we can plan well.

Till today it's the woman who serves the food in the plate and therefore has to reply to frugal cooking. It's the man who expects the woman to spend judiciously.
