In some areas, burglars are damaging the plumbing of empty homes, when the home owner is away. Are these burglars paid to damage the plumbing or is there any other motivation? Do you know anyone who has faced this problem?

Not sure why though, it could be that it's the same set of persons doing the stealing, so damaging the plumbing is more like a trade mark for others to know it's them.
Do you face the problem of damaged plumbing in empty houses in the area where you live? Is there any quick or convenient way to find out the persons who are damaging the plumbing, their motivation?
I don't experience this but it is bad for them to do this. They are causing pains to the owners
