Why do large tech companies track relationships of online investors?

I have noticed that at least a few of the largest tech companies are closely tracking the relationships of an online investor, right from college to present and using it for search results. Why are these tech companies so closely monitoring the online investor?

Yes, I believe that the search engines are tracking only a few online workers, investors, I do not think that they will track most of the forum members here, because they create limited content.

But what's the tracking for? when they get the information of what use will it be to them?

That's really weird, why track tech companies when they can easily focus on their own business?
